Famed for the otherworldly rock formations and fairy chimneys, the geology of Cappadocia is reflected in these red rustic terracotta bowls.
The presiding color of the region is echoed in its river kizilirmak, or red river, a steady supplier of clay for pottery for years, with techniques still practised today dating back to ancient Hittite civilizations.
These sumptuous bowls continue in this rich vein with their simple understated elegance letting the beauty of the color and texture of the clay take prominence. Whilst the interiors are finished in a colored glaze, providing a counterpoint in tone and texture.
